When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. Proverbs 29.2

The House bill would slash the budget for one of the main U.S. foreign food aid programs, Food for Peace, by 40 percent from 2010 levels. That would reduce or eliminate food for about 15 million people in places such as Ethiopia, Haiti and Sudan, U.S. officials say.

The cuts would come at a time when millions of people are sinking into poverty because of rising food prices globally, according to the World Bank.

The budget for another initiative, the McGovern-Dole Food for Education Program, which provides meals to about 4.5 million schoolchildren in poor countries, would be halved.

“A lot of these kids would not be in school if there was no meal,” said Rick Leach, president of the World Food Program USA.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it. Proverbs 29,7

This national survey finds that Republicans are markedly more likely than other Americans to describe themselves as “angry" about the economy. And angry people, by a wide margin, are more apt to blame the Democratic Party than the GOP for the problem.

An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression. Proverbs 29.22

he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked. Proverbs 29.29

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Proverbs 6.16-19

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) continued an ugly custom practiced by some big-time Republicans on "Good Morning America” today. She refused to knock down the lie widely believed within her party that President Obama is neither a citizen of the United States nor a Christian.

Police in Arizona already treat migrants worse than animals,“ said Francisco Loureiro, an activist who runs a migrant shelter in the border town of Nogales, Mexico. “There is already a hunt for migrants, and now it will be open season under the cover of a law.”  KTAR

As the new Congress opened Wednesday, conservative state lawmakers unveiled model legislation to undermine birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants that they said would be introduced in at least 14 states. And Rep. Steve King, R-IA, late Wednesday introduced a similar bill, HR140, which would impose limitations on automatic citizenship for those born in this country.

House Republican leaders, including Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith and Homeland Security Chairman Peter King, have repeatedly signaled a harder line on immigration enforcement and pledged to begin a series of oversight hearings on how the Obama administration has enforced immigrations laws, among other issues.

Leveticus 33: And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.
34: But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

Nowhere was the political shift more dramatic than in Wisconsin, where power in the Statehouse will shift wholesale from Democrats to Republicans. Already, incoming Republican Gov. Scott Walker and others would like to head off a law that makes it tougher for payday loan companies and auto lenders to do business in the state.

Until Democrats pushed the law through the Senate and House in 2010, Wisconsin was the only state that did not regulate those industries, and consumer advocates complained that lenders were exploiting poor people by charging exorbitant interest rates. SCPR

36: Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.
37: Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase. Leveticus
