Rapture of the Republicans

In my dream, the dead flew up from their graves to the Judgment of Republicans and the Angel of Mercy put out a hand and cradled them against the pull of the void and the weight of their sins. The Judging Angel asked:

You have heard  “So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day. And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the cattle according to their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.  And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.“

How have you carried out your duties as stewards of that which is so good in the sight of God?

And the Accuser rose and opened the Book of Days and out of it came a
vision of the sea filled with poisons and foul wastes, the mighty sea monsters twisted and bleeding, the winged birds falling through a blackened sky, their eggs cracked and their chicks crippled and cancerous; the great beasts hunted to extinction; the trees felled; the grasses trampled and baked into the burning waste; the cattle penned and groaning in their own excrement; and all that God made destroyed, tainted, crushed and turned into a mockery and a ruin.

We hate the tree huggers they cried and people are more important than fish and none of it is proven anyways – we needed time to have studies and surely the alarmists are a joke…. and the
the Angel of Mercy needed to reach out with her other hand to keep them from the void.

And the Angel Judge said: You have twice the full measure of Mercy and there is no more given to you. You have heard:

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

How have you done your duty to the wretched among your brothers and sisters?

And the Accuser rose up full of doom and opened the Book of Days and came a vision of refugees starving, and children digging through garbage for scraps, the naked shivering in the cold, the thirsty shaking as they died, the screams of the tortured in prison, the shuffling legless  in their rags with their beggar bowls outstretched, the cold fear and burning humiliation of the villagers as the armies slaughtered their infants and raped their daughters, the fright of desperate girls jeered at by the mob in front of the clinics and of the gay kid beaten and kicked as he curled up on the ground.

“Oh THOSE  are not OUR brothers and sisters, they are terrorists, or blacks,  or arabs or gays or illegals or communists or sluts” they cried, “Surely you didn’t mean those, those undeserving”

The Angel of Mercy opened her arms.  And into the void they fell.
